our black experience

Project Overview
In partnership with Galerie Kitsuné, this month-long exhibition produced by Black Women Photographers (BWP) spotlighted emerging Black women and non-binary photographers. Designed as an immersive experience, the show blended fashion, identity, and contemporary art within Café Kitsuné’s minimalist, fashion-forward space. This exhibition was later adapted for Photoville 2023, as Our Black Experience, showcasing four BWP photographers in New York City. Their work explored themes of beauty, self-love, and everyday life through the lens of Black womanhood.

Role & Responsibilities
Producer & Curator (Galerie Kitsuné)
Collaborated with the BWP founder, exhibiting artists, Café Kitsuné’s marketing and event teams, and installation crews to bring the exhibition to life—managing artist selection, gallery production, brand alignment, and public programming.

Curator (Photoville 2023)
Selected and supported four featured artists for Our Black Experience, a BWP exhibition presented at Photoville. Developed the curatorial narrative and worked closely with Photoville staff to adapt the installation for large-scale outdoor public exhibition across NYC’s five boroughs.

Creative Approach
Curated all participating artists to create a cohesive visual and thematic narrative. Oversaw artist communications, layout design, and storytelling across digital and press platforms, ensuring alignment with each venue’s audience and brand tone.

Key Deliverables

  • Curatorial Selection: Pitched and curated 4 artists for Café Kitsuné; 4 for Photoville 2023.
